The Pendulum Finally Swings Back

It's been awhile since my last post but with good news. I have gone about a month and a half without having a seizure which is something I have not achieved since I was in high school.

Finally, after thirty years of having Epilepsy (Acute Repetitive Seizures, specifically) things seem to be getting on track.

There has been much more peace in my life, allowing me to simplify things. I sold my car that I bought new four years ago and have been using the proceeds to put away in savings but also to purchase and SLR camera to boost up the quality of my art. I wandered away from photography for awhile and art in general because I felt stuck and distracted by my Epilepsy and all the crap that goes with it. Now I have more clarity, I feel the windows have been opened and it's a fresh day.

Don't get me wrong. The Epilepsy is not gone. I had a few days where I had single seizures for three days in a row before I left for vacation. This made me really nervous. However, things were just fine and I haven't had one seizure while I am on vacation.

Having found a wonderful Epileptologist about an hour away from where I live has made all the difference. He corrected my diagnosis, has readjusted my medication levels and is weaning me off some meds altogether.

I received an email from the Epilepsy Foundation as well with some very hopeful news for anyone touched by Epilepsy. At last, the government is taking some action regarding Epilepsy Awareness! This has inspired me to attempt to get a Kickstarter grant for the Superhero Epilepsy Combat Syndicate. It will be a lot of work but fully worth it. I have been given some references at the Idaho chapter of the Epilepsy Foundation to speak to and I am hoping they can work with me on this. Stay tuned for more information on this project.

In the meantime, I have been enjoying The National Old Time Fiddle Festival which I attend each year to cheer on my friend Alex DePue. His newest album, "Stages," I am honored to say, features some of my photography. His brothers are also here and it has been such an amazing week so far, spending time with family and friends who are extended family.

That said, I must go get some pulled pork down at the park before said extended family consumes it all in one go.
